WHAT THIS GROUP IS

The Brotherhood is a structured space for men of color to build community and do real life work together. This group blends peer support with clear psychoeducation and practical tools for regulating emotions, strengthening relationships, and showing up with intention.

This is not a drop-in group. It’s a closed cohort designed to build trust, continuity, and momentum over eight weeks.

WHO IT’S FOR

This group may be a good fit if you want:

  • a grounded space with other men of color
  • support building emotional tools (not just talking about stress)
  • accountability in a respectful environment
  • stronger relationships, boundaries, and communication
  • community that doesn’t require you to perform

You do not need to be “good at sharing.” You only need the willingness to show up consistently.

WHAT TO EXPECT (WEEKLY FLOW)

Each week follows the same structure, so the group feels predictable and safe. We’ll start with a brief arrival and check-in, then move into psychoeducation built around one clear concept with practical framing. From there, we’ll shift into a guided activity that supports reflection and structured sharing (always opt-in, with no pressure). We’ll close by integrating what you’re taking with you into real life, naming one takeaway and one action for the week ahead.

BETWEEN-SESSION PRACTICE (OPTIONAL BUT ENCOURAGED)

To help the work carry into real life:

  • Reflection journal: 10 minutes (weekly prompt)
  • Skill practice: 5 minutes/day (one agreed tool)
  • Optional accountability buddy: midweek check-in text (consent-based)

PROGRAM THEMES (8 WEEKS)

  • Safety, agreements, and why you’re here
  • Identity and masculinity / societal scripts
  • Shame and the nervous system
  • Joy, rest, and permission
  • Values and relationships (conflict, repair, boundaries)
  • Armor vs. authenticity (code-switching, performance)
  • Real self-care (discipline vs. self-punishment)
  • Integration and the next chapter
